31 Μαΐ 2023 · PCL injuries are traumatic knee injuries that may lead to posterior knee instability and often present in combination with other ipsilateral ligamentous knee injuries (i.e PLC, ACL). Diagnosis can be suspected clinically with a traumatic knee effusion and increased laxity on a posterior drawer test but requires an MRI for confirmation.
The typical symptoms of a posterior cruciate ligament injury are: Pain with swelling that occurs steadily and quickly after the injury; Swelling that makes the knee stiff and may cause a limp; Difficulty walking; The knee feels unstable, like it may "give out"
The posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) connects your upper leg to your lower leg. Even though your PCL is stronger and larger than your anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), it can still be injured. People with a PCL injury may have pain, swelling and other symptoms. Treatments include both non-surgical and surgical options.
13 Σεπ 2023 · Symptoms of PCL Injury. Most people don't feel or hear a "popping" sensation in the knee after a PCL injury. This is more common with an injury to the ACL.
Chronic PCL injuries can be adequately treated with physiotherapy. A range of motion brace is used, initially set to prevent the terminal 15° of extension. After a while the brace is opened to full extension.
25 Ιουλ 2022 · Symptoms of PCL Tears. The most common symptoms of a PCL tear are quite similar to the symptoms of an ACL tear. Knee pain, swelling and decreased motion are common with both injuries. Patients may have a sensation that their knee "popped" or gave out.
Symptoms depend upon the injury mechanism (high vs low-energy) as well as chronicity. Stiffness, swelling and pain on the posterior aspect of the knee are typical symptoms, while anterior knee pain and instability when descending stairs are more often associated with chronic isolated tears [2].
