For 1994-2005 flash-based LT1/LS1 PCMs, you rent an ALDL cable and free software from me, which you can use to load my tune into your own PCM without needing to remove it, as well as data-log while driving, so I can fine-tune the PCM exactly to how your car is running.
21 Μαΐ 2011 · Either find a starter PCM .bin file (Or .LT1) to start with or pull your own off your car. I would also look into a mail tuner to give you a good starting point to fine tune further. A mail tuner can also provide you with a stock tune file based off your VIN.
There are three basic items necessary to tuning your own LT1 (or other GM) PCM: Software. Cable. Computer. TunerCat is your first step, the program I recommend to read your current PCM image, change its contents, and then reupload it to your PCM.
The best way to achieve optimum driveability at part throttle and to ensure emissions compliance is to tune for 0% fuel trims. In my personal opinion if you are expecting the PCM to compensate more than 3% lean or rich you are outside of its range off effectiveness and you need to get the PCM tuned.
