26 Ιαν 2017 · There is a contingent of shooters who have taken off the fancy tang sights and shoot with the ladder barrel sight, out to considerable ranges with astonishing accuracy. (They don't, to my knowledge, compete in silhouette or long range target matches this way.)
2 Σεπ 2019 · Ive had my Pedersoli Sharps in 45-70 for a little over 2 years now. I have exclusively used SR 4759 smokeless as that powder works so well in my Marlin 1895 with cast bullets. In the Sharps, i think you will find the longer/heavier bullets definitely group better.

7 Ιουν 2017 · I had a couple of Pedersoli Sharps 45-70, and they were both very accurate....with some bullets and powders. I never, repeat NEVER, got very good accuracy with any bullet lighter than 400grains and I never got very good results with 3031 powder.
We test smokeless powders in the Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Q Down Under. The rifle is chambered in .45-70. Jeremiah discusses the beautiful rifle and takes it to the range where various handloads are tested.
Front sight 3/8" dovetail steel base with silver blade, rear sight steel flip-up with elevator to 800 yards. Steel furniture color casehardened lock, receiver, lever, triggerplate and buttplate. Drilled and tapped for tang sight 10x28 with 2 1/4" center to center. Double set triggers. Use 45/70 black powder cartridges or factory smokeless loads.
Nice gun. I tested a Shiloh Sharps with their gee whiz tang and front sights and thought it shot well.
