22 Ιουν 2011 · The aim of this paper is to systematically review and summarise the epidemiological evidence of an association between male circumcision and penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), in situ and invasive penile cancer, and to discuss the possible mechanisms and biological pathways for the association.

Results. We identified eight papers which evaluated the association of circumcision with penile cancer, of which seven were case–control studies. There was a strong pro-tective effect of childhood/adolescent circumcision on invasive penile cancer (OR = 0.33; 95% CI 0.13–0.83; 3 studies).
