A person who is 21 years of age or older may apply for a License to Carry Firearms. The license allows individuals to carry a firearm concealed on their body or in a vehicle. The license is valid for five years unless revoked. Submit applications to the sheriff of the county where you live.

People who are not residents of Pennsylvania may apply for and receive a Non-Resident License To Carry Firearms in Pennsylvania. The process is exactly the same as it is for residents except that non-residents must possess a similar permit in their home state per the following statute:
APPLICANTS ARE DETERMINED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A LICENSE TO CARRY FIREARMS BASED UPON CRITERIA SET FORTH WITHIN THE PENNSYLVANIA UNIFORM FIREARMS ACT (18 PA.C.S. CHAPTER 61) § 6105, DEALING WITH INDIVIDUALS NOT TO POSSESS FIREARMS AND § 6109, DEALING WITH THE ISSUANCE OF A LICENSE TO CARRY FIREARMS.
