The letter looks like it’s from a law firm and offers an “easy way” to get money using someone else’s life insurance policy. But it’s a scam.

If you want to try to convince your friend, tell your friend that he should withdraw all his money from it and then he can put the money back in next week. When he discovers he's not actually able to make the withdrawal, you'll have proof this is a scam.
The top of the letter listed several banks and credit card companies so I knew it was phony. Still, I got online to make sure and found all of these others getting a similar letter. The phone number to call was 800-743-0038 so it appears they keep changing it.

Make sure you’re aware of the warning signs that might indicate an investment opportunity is a scam: Unsolicited approaches by phone call, text message, email or a person knocking on your door. When a firm doesn’t allow you to call them back. Where you’re forced to make a quick decision, or are pressured into doing so.
