Persistent occiput posterior (OP) is associated with increased rates of maternal and newborn morbidity. Its diagnosis by physical examination is challenging but is improved with bedside ultrasonography.
9 Απρ 2023 · A shorter duration of the first stage of labor (< 7 h) is a predictive factor of spontaneous rotation in the occiput anterior position for fetuses in persistent OP position. A spontaneous rotation in case of an OP position is associated with better maternal and fetal outcomes.
To evaluate diagnostic methods used to detect occiput posterior and to describe the efficacy of posturing to enhance rotation from occiput posterior to occiput anterior.
Clinical effectiveness of position management and manual rotation of the fetal position with a U-shaped birth stool for vaginal delivery of a fetus in a persistent occiput posterior position
Persistent occiput posterior and occiput transverse positions are the most common malpositions of the fetal head during labor and are associated with prolonged second stage of labor, cesarean deliveries, instrumental deliveries, severe perineal tears, postpartum hemorrhage, and chorioamnionitis.
12 Αυγ 2021 · All women with a singleton pregnancy after 37 weeks of gestation with a fetus in persistent occiput posterior position and an attempt of manual rotation were included. The main outcome was the occiput position at delivery.
