In this study, we sought to shed light on the relationship between alcohol use and suicidal behaviour in the general population by adopting a broad definition of suicidal behaviour, encompassing suicide attempts, suicidal thoughts and non-suicidal self-harm.
Given the complex relationship between both acute and chronic alcohol use with suicidal ideation, self-harm, and suicidal behavior, a growing number of studies have included alcohol-focused content into psychological interventions for those at risk of suicide.
