There are two ways for you to learn a pet ability: some abilities you can learn from a pet trainer in town, and some abilities you learn from taming creatures that already know the ability. Learned from wild creatures:
The following table cross-references spec and core family abilities for each family. Families each have one uniquely-named core ability, belonging to one of 7 ability types (left column). Each family also gains two abilities from the specialization to which it belongs (top row).
In comparison to the original Classic, there are six new pet abilities: Avoidance, Cobra Reflexes, Fire Breath, Gore, Poison Spit, and Warp. In original BC, Avoidance and Cobra Reflexes were added later (Patch 2.1) but will be available from the start in BC Classic.

18 Μαΐ 2020 · Once you have tamed a pet with an ability that you want your current pet to be able to learn, you can use the Beast Training ability in your spellbook to open the training menu. This will show you a list of available spells, which should include your new ability.
Each pet family has one core ability, which will be one of six possible types: defense, dodge, mortal wounds, slow, dispel, or triggered defense. Exotic pet families (Beast Masters only) have a second ability that are unique to the family.
