PMRF scheme has been designed to attract the talent pool of our country toward doctoral programs of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and for carrying out research in cutting edge science and technology domains, with focus on national priorities.
PMRF offers attractive fellowships as well as research grants to PhD scholars in India in the area of Science and Engineering. It's a launchpad for visionary thinkers, daring innovators, and relentless problem-solvers.
In case of Integrated M.Tech/MSc and PhD programmes, the candidate will be eligible to apply within 12 months of the date of satisfying the Master’s degree requirement.
You are eligible to apply for PMRF only after getting admitted into PhD/Direct PhD at IIT Madras. There are two modes of admission under PMRF – Direct Entry and Lateral Entry. Direct Entry is meant for Newly Admitted PhD & Direct PhD Scholars & Lateral Entry is for ongoing PhD/Direct PhD/Upgraded PhD Scholars.
The tenure of fellowship will be till the end of the 4th year of PhD for students from integrated courses and till the end of the 5th year of PhD for B.Tech. (or equivalent) students.
2 Ιαν 2014 · Under this scheme, there are 100 slots of fellowships available annually to researchers to pursue PhD in reputed technology and research institutions in India. The first batch of fellowships commenced in 2013.
