Doña Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo (née Mariño y Coronel; June 24, 1859 – May 30, 1946) [1] [2] [3] was a Filipina who was the principal seamstress of the first and official flag of the Philippines, [4] gaining her the title of "The Mother of the Philippine Flag."

Marcela de Agoncillo, her daughter Lorenza, and Josefina Herbosa de Natividad sewed the first flag out of silk. During the Spanish-American War, Aguinaldo returned to the Philippines with it. It was first flown in 1898 and has since been declared the national flag of the Philippines.
