Guidance on the Privacy by Design for Georgia. In June 2023, the new Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection replaced the previous Data Protection Act of 2011, to ensure compliance of the Georgian legislation with the provisions and principles outlined in the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The Georgia Computer Data Privacy Act (“GCDPA”), a comprehensive privacy law, was sponsored by the Georgia Senate in 2022. It was modeled after (but substantially broader than) California’s Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”).
