Asbury Grove was founded in 1859 as a seasonal "Camp Meeting" ground, serving Methodist congregations from Boston and area districts. The location in Hamilton, Massachusetts was select to benefit many who could not travel to the more distant camp meetings at Martha's Vineyard and Eastham.
Today the Grove covers 83 acres and has approximately 150 dwellings of which approximately 60 are occupied year-round. Living, growing and sharing as a religious community remains the central theme. A typical day at Asbury Grove began at 5:30 a.m. followed by breakfast served promptly at 6:30 a.m. Preaching services were scheduled for 10:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., interrupted by lunch at noon, and the evening meal at 5:00 p.m.
We have an active summer program of spiritual renewal through regular worship, camp meeting week, Bible studies, and social events. For recreation we offer an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, a ball field, picnic area, horse shoe pits, and a children's playground.
