14 Μαΐ 2012 · There is an option "CURLOPT_TIMEOUT" you could use to configure the timeout for your request (there's also an option "CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT"). You can even specify the timeouts in millisecond resolution (CURLOPT_TIMEOUT_MS / CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT_MS).

On an Apache webserver, add php_value max_execution_time SECONDS in the .htaccess file. Use set_time_limit(SECONDS) in the PHP script. Finally, we can set the time limit using ini_set("max_execution_time", SECONDS).
set_time_limit (int $seconds): bool. Set the number of seconds a script is allowed to run. If this is reached, the script returns a fatal error. The default limit is 30 seconds or, if it exists, the max_execution_time value defined in the php.ini. When called, set_time_limit () restarts the timeout counter from zero.
ini_set (string $option, string | int | float | bool | null $value): string | false. Sets the value of the given configuration option. The configuration option will keep this new value during the script's execution, and will be restored at the script's ending.
