4 Ιουλ 2024 · Here’s a conversion table for various units of work, formatted to show how different units such as Joules, Calories, BTUs, and Kilowatt-hours relate to each other: Unit Joules (J)
Do you want to calculate work (physics) with very little effort? With Omni's work calculator we'll do the (computational) work for you 😉
Review the units of work, energy, force, and distance. Use the equations for mechanical energy and work to show what is work and what is not. Make it clear why holding something off the ground or carrying something over a level surface is not work in the scientific sense.
eFunda provides extensive Unit Conversion, Equations, and Material Data of value to engineers. Online calculators for unit conversion.
The SI unit for work and energy is the joule (J), where \(1 \, J = 1 \, N \cdot m = 1 \, kg \, m^2/s^2\). The work done by a force is zero if the displacement is either zero or perpendicular to the force.
First we calculate the average speed using the given units, then we can get the average speed into the desired units by picking the correct conversion factors and multiplying by them. The correct conversion factors are those that cancel the unwanted units and leave the desired units in their place.
The units of work are units of force multiplied by units of length, which in the SI system is newtons times meters, N · m. This combination is called a joule, for historical reasons that we will mention later, and is abbreviated as J.
