Hammerschlagen (also called Stump or Nagelbalken [German lit. 'nail beam']), is a game in which participants compete against each other to drive nails into a wooden beam. Competitive nailing can be a solo game. [1][2] However, the most common form is as a competition between several individuals, the winner of which gets a prize. [3] Origins.

Official Hammerschlagen Rules. The goal of this game is to drive a nail into the stump of a tree. Before the game starts each player hammers a nail into the stump, about half way until it’s standing up well on it’s own. The stump or log should be about waist high, give-or-take.
1. Rules. Each player is assigned a nail. Each player’s turn consists of a single swing at their nail with the wedge end of the hammer. Prior to swinging, the player must rest the wedge-end of the hammer on the log next to their nail.
