The heart and lungs are both located in a region of the pig known as the thoracic cavity, which is separated from the digestive system by the diaphragm, a thin, sheet-like muscle. Between the lungs we find the heart swaddled in the pericardial sac.
The right lung consists of the upper, middle, caudal, and accessory lobes, whereas the left lung consists of the upper and caudal lobes. The left lung is ventilated through the left bronchus.
