The Houston Pilots Association provides pilotage services to all foreign flag vessels and American vessels under register (regulated vessels) entering or departing the Port of Houston, Harris County, Texas, as required by Texas state law.
The following Navigation Safety Guidelines represent the collective experience and judgement of the state licensed Pilots for Harris County ports and have been developed to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vessels on the Houston Ship Channel and its navigable deep draft tributaries.
How to Order a Pilot. Pilot orders are normally placed by locally based ship agents/representatives who hold established accounts with the Houston Pilots. Minimum Time Required. The Houston Pilots require a minimum of four hours' notice for a vessel movement.

1 Νοε 2017 · The new vessels have ten relax rooms, a large mess room, an extended wheelhouse with ergonomic consoles, and an adjacent waiting zone for four pilots. Two MAN diesel engines drive two fixed-pitch propellers to give a maximum speed of 19.5 knots and an endurance at economic speed of 1,000 nautical miles.
For the past 100 years the Houston Pilots have taken on the responsibility of guiding ships that arrive and depart in the Port of Houston. The Pilots operate 24/7, and currently have a fleet of 4 pilot vessels. The Houston Pilots provide pilotage for the entire length of the Houston Ship Channel.
