21 Φεβ 2020 · For this tool handle, I chose to make eight flutes using a 1/4″ (6mm) round-nose router bit. I installed a fence to guide the router and stops to control the ends of the flutes. I usually just screw, hot glue, or clamp a piece of wood to the table as a guide that follows the length of the turning.
3 ημέρες πριν · I used wooden inlay strips that were 1/8″, or 0.125″ (3mm), wide. That left me with spacing of 0.355″ (9mm) between inlays, which I felt was a good proportion for this piece. My lathe router jig helps me add more designs to my turned pieces, and I am sure there are lots of possibilities waiting to be explored.
With a hand-held router and this jig, you can rout a wide variety of decorative designs in your projects. A metal pin and a shop-made template guide the workpiece while you rout the design. A pin router is a great way to “carve” out decorative reliefs, custom-fitted recesses and signs.

Richard Jones: Generally for heavy-duty routing of all sorts, including straight-line and curved molding operations. The pin really earns its stripes when used for pattern cutting jobs using a template.
