30 Σεπ 2019 · The PIO Card is a tool to increase and facilitate the participation of non-resident Indians (or NRIs) in the development of their country in simpler, easier, flexible and hassle-free ways. There is a prescribed system to apply for the PIO card.
Instruction to the PIO card applicants. Completed application and relevant documents can be submitted in-person at the High Commission between 0930 hrs and 1200 hrs on any working day. Documents required:- ed along with a filled-in PIO application form. Existing / Expired Indian passport in original. Or. Any two or more of following documents:-

Check your eligibility before you start your registration. If you are already an OCI Card Holder, kindly use OCI Miscellaneous Services. If you are an PIO Card Holder, kindly register through OCI Registration (In Lieu Of Valid PIO-Card).
As per the aforementioned O.M. Bureau of Immigration (BoI) will accept PIO Cards as valid travel document till 31st December 2024 along with valid foreign passport and the Indian Immigration Check Post (s) will continue to consider all PIO Cards valid for exit / entry into India till 31.12.2024.
Merger of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) Scheme with OCI. The erstwhile Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card scheme has been rescinded by the Government of India and all the existing PIO cardholders shall be deemed to be Overseas Indian Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders.
Bureau of Immigration (BoI) was accepting PIO cards as valid travel document till 30th September, 2023 along with valid foreign passport. PIO cards are no longer valid to travel. You must apply for OCI. In case of urgent travel, applicants may apply for appropriate visa.
