1 Σεπ 2018 · The two Pioneer DJ controllers in this guide, the DDJ-400, and the DDJ-SB3, are closely related to each other, but essentially very different. The DDJ-SB3 works with Serato DJ Intro, while the DDJ-400 is a Rekordbox DJ only controller.
Hardware-wise SB3 as a controller allows you to layer effects on a channel (e.g., using echo, reverb, and phaser all at the same time). The 400 only allows you to activate one effect per channel, or one effect for both channels, as this is patterned after the club standard DJM mixers.

I personally much prefer the SB3. I think it deals with FX better, has a "vinyl mode" button (400 doesn't have it?!?!) and Serato seems more intuitive and simple to use for a beginner. But having said that, Serato Lite is simply not enough so you MUST get Serato Pro/Suite.
