Printed side down, fold in half in both directions. Open out. Printed side up, fold short sides to the centre. Open out. Pinch in the two ends and push the central folds outwards. Fold in half and cut through centre as far as the next fold. Fold over and press creases. Open out and bring up the long centre fold.
23 Ιαν 2017 · Pitman’s New Era Shorthand. This list is based on the Basic English 850 Words with a small number of additional derivatives, mainly related pairs of shorthand outlines. Phrases are not vocalised.
The 150 headwords plus the 70 most-used short forms cover approximately 80% of everyday speech. These 70 short forms are shown separately at the end of the list. The blue headwords are ordered according to the first stroke. Phrases are unvocalised except where necessary and advisable.
In Pitman Shorthand the amount of actual writing has been reduced to a minimum because of the scientific use of the steno- graphic abbreviating material. Circles, loops, hooks, halving and doubling are devices used for the representation of syllables, and not for the formation of an alphabet.
On this occasion, we present "Jabberwocky" in Pitman 2000 shorthand. In a sample parallel edition (p. 2 from "Rip van Winkle" in Gregg shorthand) we can see three blocks: the shorthand page on the left, the text transcription and the footnotes on the right.
Pitman’s shorthand is a very scientific system of shorthand for the English language developed by an Englishman, Sir Isaac Pitman (1813–1897) , with the title “Stenographic Soundhand” in 1837.
