Key learning points. All currently available LARC methods are more cost effective than the combined oral contraceptive pill even at one year of use. 95% of emergency contraception is the emergency pill despite the IUD being more effective and sustainable.
Placebo pills in birth control packs are essentially inactive pills. They don’t contain hormones or any active ingredients that prevent pregnancy. Instead, they serve a different but crucial purpose.
Hormonal methods of birth control include combined and progestin only medication options. Contraceptive medications are available in various forms, including pills, patches, rings inserted into the vagina, injections, intrauterine devices, and implants inserted under the skin.
