18 Αυγ 2004 · Because currently no recommended doses for clopidogrel in children are available, initial drug dosages may be extrapolated from adult regimens. Prospective pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies are needed to explore dosing, indications, and efficacy of clopidogrel in children.
The present study demonstrates that clopidogrel doses of 0.20 mg · kg 1 · d 1 in infants and young children 0 to 24 months of age with a systemic-to–pulmonary artery shunt or stent achieve platelet inhibition levels similar to those in adults taking the standard adult dose of clopidogrel 75 mg/d.
18 Αυγ 2004 · Fifteen infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease were treated with clopidogrel (median age, 3.5 years; range, 6 weeks to 16 years). Dosages ranged from 1 to 6 mg/kg/day for periods between 1 month and 6 months.
Clopidogrel dosages, duration of therapy, complications, and adverse effects in a pediatric population were explored. Results: Fifteen infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease were treated with clopidogrel (median age, 3.5 years; range, 6 weeks to 16 years).
Clinical Indication. According to the most recent AHA/American Stroke Association Council “Guidelines for the Prevention of Stroke,” 1 clopidogrel is indicated to prevent noncardioembolic stroke in patients with known atherosclerotic disease, though it is not definitely superior to aspirin or aspirin/dipyridamole for this purpose.
