Setup. Players and Decks: You'll need a standard deck of cards minus the twos, leaving 24 cards (Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks, 10s, and 9s in each suit: Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs).

Lone hand wins 3 or 4 tricks – 1pt. Lone hand wins 5 tricks – 4pts. Partnership or lone hand is euchred, opponents score – 2pts. THE DEAL. Beginning to the left of the dealer, each player receives five cards. The dealer may give a round of three at a time, then a round of two at a time.

Euchre is a trick taking game with a trump, played by four players in teams of two. The basic play is similar to Whist, i.e. each player plays one card, the highest card of the suit led wins the trick, unless someone has played a card of the trump suit.
