Poetry Out Loud is a national contest, a joint project of the National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation, in which high school students memorize and recite poetry for an audience. Poetry Out Loud begins at the classroom/school or at the local level with an area organization.

(WVDN) – Forty-six students from across West Virginia will recite poems by Naomi Shihab Nye, Robert Frost, Chen Chen, Emily Dickinson and many others during the 2024 Poetry Out Loud state finals competition set for Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex, in Charleston.

9 Μαρ 2022 · CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Forty-two students from across West Virginia will recite poems by Kai Conradi, Martín Espada, Aphra Behn, Maya Angelou, Ha Jin, Kara Jackson, and many others during the 2022 Poetry Out Loud state finals competition set for March 11-12 at the Culture Center in Charleston.
Students competing in the State Finals select 3 poems: one 25 lines or shorter; one written before the 20th century; the same poem may meet both criteria. For more details on eligibility rules and other guidance on the competition, review the Poetry Out Loud Teacher’s Guide.
21 Δεκ 2023 · Lauren Rodgers, a senior at Greenbrier East High School, finished in the top five at the 2023 Poetry Out Loud State Finals on March 11. “I’ve been involved in the program (Poetry Out Loud) since my freshman year,” Lauren said while speaking with RealWV.
