In the anime, Trainers who collect eight Badges are eligible to enter Unova's championship competition, the Vertress Conference.

This is the Trio Badge, and it also depends on your starter type. Choosing Tepig means you face Leader Cress, the water type one.
In Pokémon Black and White, reaching the Pokémon League requires passing through the Badge Check Gates located at the end of Route 10 by showing all eight Unova Gym Badges. After showing the eighth Badge, the player must traverse Unova's original Victory Road , which is carved in the side of a mountain.
As usual, in Black & White you battle through eight gyms before taking on the Elite Four, with a few notable differences. We also note the significant trainer battles below. The first gym features three leaders, each specialising in a different type of Grass, Fire or Water.
