Here is a poll where you can vote on your favorite starter from the Unova region (Gen V). This includes Serperior, Samurott, and Emboar. Honestly, this trio is not the best, maybe even the worst in existence.

Unova: serperior Kalos and overall: greninja Alola: decidueye Galar: cinderace Paldea: meowscarada Generally the fire starter is the most popular of its generation. 5 of the pokemon I just listed are fire types. Greninja is currently the most beloved starter and for good reason.
