The Police Academy is the NYPD's state-of-the-art training facility that provides academic and physical preparation to uniformed and civilian members of the NYPD. Members of the department undergo extensive, rigorous preparation, befitting the most highly trained and effective law enforcement professionals in the country.

Tuition Assistance and Other Benefits. Tuition Assistance: Receive up to $20,000 in tuition assistance ($2,500 to $5,000 per semester, up to 4 semesters). Cadets who take advantage of this program will not have to re-pay the amount after completing 2 years of service as a New York City Police Officer. Great Pay: We offer $16.79 hourly wage.
The Youth Police Academy offers children and young adults a chance to train with police officers during the summer. City youth between the ages of 10 and 16 are eligible for the Youth Police Academy. Five Academies, one in each borough, takes place five days a week for six weeks.
To become a police officer in New York, you'll need to meet eligibility requirements, pass exams, attend the police academy, and secure a law enforcement position.
