The hiring process for Cadet Candidates is structured, rigorous and detailed. It is designed to help select those applicants who are most qualified. Below you will find an overview of the process.
Police Officer: Must be 21 prior to graduation from the Police Academy; Police Cadet: 17-20 Years of Age; Lateral Police Officer: Currently MPCTC Certified and in good standing with current agency or prior agency; No Felony Convictions; Meet The Minimum Standards Set By The Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission For Police Applicants
Police Cadets hold a full-time position with an annual salary starting at $31,200. Police Cadets are required to attend an accredited college degree program, with a course load of up to three classes per semester, which are considered paid working hours.

Cadets participating in the program receive a salary of $26.03 per hour. Cadets will receive leave benefits; to include paid holiday leave, as well as helathcare benefits. Cadets must be enrolled in a College Curriculum Full Time and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
