An asylee is a person who, similar to a refugee, is unable or unwilling to return to their home country because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
The date you are granted asylum begins a two-year window of time in which you may file the Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition USCIS Form I-730 to bring your spouse and unmarried children under age 21 to the U.S. as derivative asylees.
