  2. Polk County History Museum. There is lots to explore of interest to both young and old, including an early 1800s stage coach, antique farm tools and implements, a school display, a home setting, a doctor’s office, a beauty parlor and many pictures from the past.

  3. The Polk County History Museum, located in downtown Columbus, is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The Polk County Historical Association works to preserve the history of Polk County in western North Carolina, including Tryon, Saluda, and Columbus.

  4. The Polk County History Museum is within walking distance of the Polk County Courthouse which was built in 1859, and historical markers and points of interest such as the Howard Monument, the Dough Boy statue and Stearns Park.
