China’s significant achievements in reducing absolute poverty and improving living conditions is of global interest. Poverty reduction is the first United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Moreover, all cooperation and development agencies orient their programs towards improving vulnerable groups’ living conditions.
Key conditions and challenges. Despite a severe downturn in the property sector, China's economy grew at a robust rate of 5.0 percent in the first half of 2024. However, economic growth remains un-even and below its pre-pandemic rate, re-flecting both cyclical fluctuations and structural challenges.
