7 Μαρ 2023 · In comparison to the same-age Boxster’s engine, the 996’s M96 flat-six used a 10.5mm wider bore (96mm) and a 6mm longer stroke (78mm), resulting in swept capacity of 3,387cc. The liners were cast with the block, which wasn’t unusual, but Porsche also wanted a high-pressure die-casting technique to allow for high-volume production.
