As required by the Postal Service Reform Act of 2022 (PSRA), certain Medicare-eligible Postal Service annuitants and their Medicare-eligible family members must enroll in Medicare Part B to remain enrolled in a PSHB plan.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2025, the PSRA requires certain Medicare-eligible Postal Service annuitants to enroll in Medicare Part B to maintain their PSHB coverage in retirement. After Jan. 1, 2025, annuitants who are enrolled in Medicare Part B must stay enrolled to keep PSHB coverage, unless an exception applies.
The Postal Service Reform Act of 2022 establishes a one-time Medicare Part B Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for eligible Postal Service annuitants (e.g. certain retirees) and their eligible family members. The one-time SEP will run from April 1, 2024 through September 30, 2024.
