15 Νοε 2021 · In this paper we consider exposures of pregnant women, chiefly in medical settings, review the effects of low, moderate and high dose radiation exposures on the embryo and foetus, and evidence for any difference in the response of pregnant women to radiation.
This review describes the low added risk of malformation/cancer in the offspring, highlight gaps in our understanding, discuss several common wrong beliefs, and recommend how to further decrease radiation dose, especially during pregnancy. Keywords: Angiography, Cardiology, Pregnancy, Radiation hazards, Women.
15 Νοε 2021 · Generally, intentional exposure of pregnant women is avoided as far as possible in both medical and occupational situations. This paper aims to summarise available information on sources of radiation exposure of the embryo/foetus primarily in medical settings.
There is a documented rise in both the utilization of ionizing radiation during pregnancy and the incidence of PACs. A 2016 multicenter review of over 3 million pregnancies, found that in 20 years, CT usage increased from 2 to 9.3 per 1000 pregnancies.
1 Μαΐ 2023 · Solid understanding of how each imaging modality contributes to fetal radiation exposure, techniques to reducing radiation exposure in the fetus, and adverse consequences of high radiation exposure is critical in providing the most appropriate imaging studies for pregnant patients.
1 Νοε 2022 · Possible risks to the fetus due to exposure to ionizing radiation during pregnancy are associated with the amount of the absorbed dose and the stage of pregnancy, and they are a) most important during organogenesis and in the early embryonic period; b) less during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy; c) minimized in the third quarter.
23 Αυγ 2023 · Fetal Risks From Ionizing Radiation. Significant potential harmful effects of ionizing radiation can be summarised into four main categories: Pregnancy loss (miscarriage, stillbirth) Malformation. Disturbances of growth or development. Mutagenic and carcinogenic effects.
