15 Νοε 2021 · In this paper we consider exposures of pregnant women, chiefly in medical settings, review the effects of low, moderate and high dose radiation exposures on the embryo and foetus, and evidence for any difference in the response of pregnant women to radiation.
To review the effects of ionizing radiation to the conceptus and the relationship to the timing of the exposure during pregnancy. To consider strategies that would mitigate potential harms associated with exposure to ionizing radiation during pregnancy.
This review describes the low added risk of malformation/cancer in the offspring, highlight gaps in our understanding, discuss several common wrong beliefs, and recommend how to further decrease radiation dose, especially during pregnancy.
