Preterism is an school of eschatology that embraces a contemporary-historical interpretation of Biblical prophecy. The term “Preterism” is derived from the Latin praeteritus, meaning that which has past.
Preterism teaches that the Kingdom is already here in its fullness. So this is the fulfillment? Why would God create a world that will never be rid of sin and suffering? Optimists say that this is the best of all possible worlds.
Students of the New Testament are familiar the language of a “collapsing cosmos” in which stars fall out of sky, the sun is black like sackcloth and the moon is blood. It is often supposed that this language is quite literal.
Preterism is a Christian eschatological view or belief that interprets some (partial preterism) or all (full preterism) prophecies of the Bible as events which have already been fulfilled in history.
It is true that preterists (or at least most preterist) see no prophecy in the Bible which says or implies that every individual on planet Earth will one day be absolutely and literally and in every sense free from all sin and suffering.
