3 Οκτ 2023 · Prevertebral Layer. The prevertebral fascia surrounds the vertebral co lumn and its associated muscles; scalene muscles, prevertebral muscles, and the deep muscles of the back. It has attachments along the antero-posterior and supero-inferior axes: Superior attachment – base of the skull.
Discover the role and structure of the prevertebral fascia, its anatomical relations, functions and clinical correlations.
Definition. The prevertebral fascia extends medialward behind the carotid vessels, where it assists in forming their sheath, and passes in front of the prevertebral muscles. It forms the posterior limit of a fibrous compartment, which contains the larynx and trachea, the thyroid gland, and the pharynx and esophagus.
24 Οκτ 2022 · The deep cervical fascia acts to compartmentalize most structures of the neck and prevents the spread of infections. It consists of three fascial layers (or sheaths), which are: The investing layer of deep cervical fascia; Pretracheal layer of deep cervical fascia; The prevertebral layer of deep cervical fascia.
Anatomy. The prevertebral fascia extends medially behind the carotid vessels, where it assists in forming their sheath, and passes in front of the prevertebral muscles. The prevertebral fascia is fixed above to the base of the skull, and below it extends behind the esophagus into the posterior mediastinal cavity of the thorax.
25 Ιουλ 2023 · The prevertebral fascia is continuous with the transversalis fascia of the thorax and abdomen. The prevertebral fascia functions to help in allowing the esophagus, pharynx, and carotid sheaths to glide unobstructed by the longus coli and scalene muscles during neck flexion, extension, and rotation.
29 Οκτ 2024 · The prevertebral muscles are a group of four paired deep neck muscles, located anterior to the cervical vertebrae. They include the longus capitis , longus colli , rectus capitis anterior and rectus capitis lateralis muscles.
