25 Σεπ 2024 · The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a tenant-based rental assistance program that assists very low income individuals and families with renting safe, decent, and affordable dwelling units in the private rental market.
For the Section 8 PBRA program, HUD partners with private owners and housing authorities to give tenants income-based rent for some or all apartments in a development. This is a long running housing program, and many Section 8 PBRA developments are located nationwide.
Tenants are required to document their efforts to locate other non-AHVP subsidized housing. Other suitable housing may include Section 8 certificate/voucher programs, MRVP/Section 8 Project-Based Assistance, MHFA developments, or private housing if you can afford to rent without a subsidy.

In FFY2012 and FFY2013, the State of Georgia was awarded funding to initiate the HUD Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) Demonstration Grant Program. It is a cooperative effort by federal and state agencies to transition individuals with disabilities to integrated, community-based settings.
Housing Assistance is the Regional Administrator Agency (RAA) for Section 8 vouchers, which provides financial assistance to low-income tenants. We manage over 1,000 Section 8 vouchers on the Cape and work closely with the individual town housing authorities that manage the remaining vouchers.
