I just copy PS2 games in ISO format to PS3 HDD. If game needs config to run better, it automatically downloads and applies it (check comments). Only game that ran poorly was Prince of Persia Warrior Within. Check this site for compatibility. I would say that about 60 to 70% of games run flawlessly.

On CFW you get a sort of built in emulator, whereas with HEN you have to encrypt the ISO format of your desired PS2 game and turn it into a package file. I’ve had all sorts of those not work. Using full CFW I’ve achieved about 80% compatibility with my PS2 games using advice from people on here.
You can't run PS2 ISO's with HEN, that's CFW only unfortunately. You'll have to convert them to a PlayStation Classic format and install them through the package manager if you want to run select games, be sure to check the compatibility charts as well!
11 Ιουλ 2021 · As your PS3 is using CFW, it is better that you play your games as ISO (with no encryption). Many games required a .CONFIG file. Name it as game_name.ISO.CONFIG and place it in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO with the ISO. Get the CONFIGs here: https://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html
23 Ιουν 2018 · Many PS2 games requires a CONFIG file to improve the compatibility. 1- On CFW you can use decrypted ISO or PS2 Classics .BIN.ENC. On HEN you only can use PS2 Classics .BIN.ENC. 2- On CFW you can use modified ps2_netemu to track the temperature. On HEN you only can use the stock ps2_netemu.
10 Μαρ 2024 · PlayStation 3 CFW developer @Evilnat has just released his much anticipated 4.91 Evilnat Custom Firmware following the recent routine update from Sony when they dropped firmware 4.91 last week. If you are on any Custom Firmware currently all you have to do is install this CFW PuP by the USB method.
20 Οκτ 2024 · I prefer ISO. Some games require cfg files to work and they're way easier to get them to work with ISO. Also it doesn't matter about the 4 GB limit because PS2 is REQUIRED to be installed on your internal hard drive. You cannot play PS2 games using any external at all.
