Titanium dioxide (TiO2) also known as titanium oxide or titanium IV oxide or titania, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium. It is a versatile transition-metal oxide and a useful material in various present / future applications related to catalysis, electronics, photonics, sensing, medicine, and controlled drug release.
To enhance its photocatalytic activity, TiO2 was doped with Pt. The synthesised photocatalyst was characterised by techniques such as particle size analysis (PSA), XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, and EDX.
By controlling the calcination temperature, the different structures of TiO2 (anatase and rutile) have been achieved which is considered a new technique for phase transformation.
