The five Community Development Councils (CDCs) come together to run common flagship programmes to support the Government’s efforts in promoting a caring, inclusive, resilient and future-ready Singapore; and engender and spread goodwill among the people.
Our mission is to spark and nurture community participation for a caring and united Singapore. Our network includes 2,000 Grassroots Organisations (GROs), over 100 Community Clubs, five Community Development Councils, five PAssion WaVe outlets, imPAct, and the National Community Leadership Institute.
CDCs work closely with grassroots organisations, government agencies, social service agencies, schools, community and corporate companies to strengthen Singapore’s social fabric. Through CDCs programmes, residents can forge stronger community bonds and assist the vulnerable in the society.
The People's Association (PA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) of the Government of Singapore that oversees neighbourhood communities and social organisations. [1] Established in 1960, it was part of a nation-building programme to promote social cohesion and multiracialism.
The Central Singapore Community Development Council is one of five Community Development Councils (CDCs) set up across the Republic of Singapore to aid in local administration of governmental policies and schemes.
The Community Development Councils (CDCs) were established under the PA Act (CDC Rules & Regulations 1997) to build a tightly-knit, compassionate and self-reliant community in Singapore. The first two CDCs were launched in early 1997 and by the end of the year, the remaining CDCs were in place.
