  2. The state’s fish production system annually produces tens of millions of fish for stocking, with rearing programs generally broken into two main groups: coolwater and coldwater. Coolwater species reared by the DNR consist of walleye, muskellunge, northern pike and lake sturgeon.

  3. A fish hatchery is a facility where fish eggs are hatched and the fry (baby fish) are raised, mostly to stock lakes, streams, and ponds. A weir is an obstruction placed across a river designed to block the passage of fish.

  6. This location opened in 1922 and produces Chinook salmon, steelhead and walleye for both inland and Great Lakes waters.
