Key to SDG 4 are the notions of quality in education and ensuring that all members of society have equitable access to education opportunities. Quality in education has been defined by SDG 4 in a number of ways (Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators, 2016).
Understanding what quality means varies between countries. Different education actors and organizations also have their own definitions. Attention to skills development should be a core component to education. Focus to provide quality education to the most vulnerable – including girls, children affected by conflict and crisis, children with disabilities, refugees and displaced children.
