Isabella II (Spanish: Isabel II, María Isabel Luisa de Borbón y Borbón-Dos Sicilias; 10 October 1830 – 9 April 1904) was Queen of Spain from 1833 until her deposition in 1868. She is the only queen regnant in the history of unified Spain.
Queen of Spain from 1843-1868. She was the eldest daughter of Fernando VII and his fourth wife, Maria Christina. Maria became queen-regent on September 29, 1833, when her daughter Isabel, at the age of three years, was proclaimed queen.

The Monument to Isabella the Catholic (Spanish: Monumento a Isabel la Católica) is an instance of public art located in Madrid, Spain. A work by Manuel Oms , the monument is a sculptural bronze ensemble consisting of an equestrian statue of Isabella of Castile, accompanied by Pedro González de Mendoza and Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba.

Queen of Spain from the age of three, Isabella II abdicated after thirty-six years of more or less ceaseless turmoil, and spent almost half her life in exile in France, though she characteristically never learned to speak French properly.
The Royal Chapel is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist and both the interior and exterior of the building follow the austere aesthetic requested by Queen Isabella. However, at her death, her husband did not respect this wish and ordered the construction of the tomb in a Renaissance style full of details.
Designed by Mariano Benlliure, it consists of a bronze sculptural group depicting a meeting of Isabella I of Castile with Christopher Columbus. A nearly 50 metre high triumphal arch, an earlier bombastic project by Justo de Gandarias [es] discarded because of budget shortcomings.
