and for boasting, “We killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” But they neither killed nor crucified him—it was only made to appear so. 1 Even those who argue for this ˹crucifixion˺ are in doubt.
In his book, Izaala-e-Awhaam, the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), has listed 30 verses of the Holy Quran that prove that Jesus Christ (as) has passed away. This list is available in Ruhani Khazain, vol. 3, p. 423-437. We present the list below along with a brief summary of the argument given by the Promised Messiah (as).
1. Evidence of the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran emphatically proves that Jesus has passed away like other mortal human beings, and is no longer alive anywhere. It clearly states that Jesus possessed only human characteristics, and was in no way divine but a servant of God and his messenger.
Depending on the interpretation of the following Quranic verses (Quran 4:157-4:158), Islamic scholars and commentators of the Quran have abstracted different opinions and conflicting conclusions regarding the death of Jesus.
O People of the Book! Do not go to extremes regarding your faith; say nothing about Allah except the truth. 1 The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger of Allah and the fulfilment of His Word through Mary and a spirit ˹created by a command˺ from Him. 2 So believe in Allah and His messengers and do not say, “Trinity.”.
The Quran teaches that Jesus did not die on the cross. Muslims do not believe that Allah would allow one of their prophets to be killed in the manner Jesus was killed. Instead of dying on the cross, He was protected from a death of crucifixion.
In the Quran, there are many stories about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ (called 'Isa in Arabic). The Quran recalls his miraculous birth, his teachings, the miracles he performed by God's permission, and his life as a respected prophet of God.
