This phenomenon encompasses a wide range of abusive behaviors aimed at women and their children, including but not limited to physical, sexual, psychological, and economic abuse.
The primary statute addressing domestic violence in the Philippines is Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 (" VAWC Act ") and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).

This report is an assessment of the implementation of Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 in the Philippines. Issues and difficulties encountered by women and their lawyers in using the law to protect women from violence are discussed.
