29 Απρ 2023 · The branches of the radial nerve provide motor supply for the posterior muscles of the arm and forearm, as well as the sensory supply of the skin of the arm, forearm and hand. Due to its length, the radial nerve is the most commonly injured nerve of the upper extremity.
20 Μαΐ 2024 · Overview. Nerve roots – C5-T1. Sensory – Innervates most of the skin of the posterior forearm, the lateral aspect of the dorsum of the hand, and the dorsal surface of the lateral three and a half digits. Motor – Innervates the triceps brachii and the extensor muscles in the forearm.
The radial nerve is one of the terminal branches of the posterior cord. In the axilla, it lies behind the axillary and upper brachial arteries and passes anterior to the tendons of teres minor, latissimus dorsi and subscapularis.
The radial nerve divides into a deep branch, which becomes the posterior interosseous nerve, and a superficial branch, which goes on to innervate the dorsum (back) of the hand. This nerve was historically referred to as the musculospiral nerve.
11 Απρ 2024 · Your radial nerve is a peripheral nerve that supplies movement and sensory function to parts of your arm, forearm, wrist and hand. You have a radial nerve in each of your arms. It’s called “radial” because part of it runs alongside the radius bone (and the radial artery) in your forearm.
5 Νοε 2023 · Radial nerve in the hand. The only branches of the radial nerve in the hand come from its superficial sensory branch, which originates from the cubital fossa. Hand extensors are extrinsic muscles originating from the forearm and innervated by the deep branch of the radial nerve (see Image. Nerves In The Hand).
9 Οκτ 2023 · The radial nerve is one of the major peripheral nerves of the upper limb and is crucial for both sensory and motor functions. It originates from the posterior cord of the brachial plexus and primarily innervates the extensor muscles of the forearm.
