After watching some you tube videos done by radio amateurs, I decided to buy SA7000. I am aware this is NOT an active antenna. The HF performance is below of anything comparable and it's a big disappointment. I connected the antenna (3m above ground) with 30 m RG-213 to various ICOM transceivers.
I can honestly say the AOR scanner is better built, a better performer and more fun than the R8500 and it was the worst thing I ever did trading it in. I would absolutely recommend it 100% to anyone who is considering is as a wideband receiver.
8 Ιουν 2018 · It would be great if a new DV-10 owner could compare this radio to say a Uniden or Whistler for general analog receive and digital decoding using the same antenna for both radios. That would tell us more if the radio is having problems or if the antenna is at fault as the factory is hinting.

Most scanner antennas are a compromise. Normally a coil in an antenna is to "separate" the eliments such as with a half over a quarter wave dual band 2m/440. Same effect with a receiver. For portable reception it probably does not make a whole lot of difference.
